PROJECT | ARCHITECTURAL RENOVATION

House 14 is an architectural renovation of a 1980s home in Whitfield, reimagined to create a more connected, functional and modern Cairns family home.

Design Team

Architect: TPG Architects

Set in the leafy Cairns suburb of Whitfield, this 1980s home had remained largely untouched since its construction. The original floor plan no longer suited the way the owners wanted to live — presenting a clear opportunity to rethink the home from the inside out.

The clients had already worked closely with TPG Architects before bringing Maxa Constructions on board, arriving with a well-considered brief and a design they were confident in. That clarity made for a smooth transition into the build, with the focus able to shift directly to how best to deliver the project.

The intention throughout this Cairns renovation is connection. The kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, and outdoor areas all need to work together on one level, and every decision, from design to construction, is guided by that idea.

A new kitchen will sit at the heart of the home, flowing seamlessly to the outdoor pool and alfresco areas. A new bathroom and two additional bedrooms will complete the transformation.
