Hampton’s Style Queenslander Renovation

Hampton's style renovation in the heart of Edge Hill

Renovating a Queenslander is not for the faint hearted.  It’s a process that requires great design and a lot of planning.  This Edge Hill home was treated to a renovation recently which involved redesigning the kitchen and laundry and enclosing an existing patio to create an additional bedroom & bathroom.

Navy and white kicen

The owner’s of this classic cairns home chose a Hampton’s inspired kitchen and colour scheme, which suit Old Queenslander homes perfectly.

The saying ‘the kitchen is the heart of the home’ has never been more important than in this reno. With small children and a large extended family, cooking and entertaining are a priority.

Before

The redesign of the kitchen involved the removal of the original kitchen wall & moving the kitchen forward.  This took advantage of otherwise ‘dead space’ and by building a new back wall we created a walk-through pantry. This clever design also created the entrance to the laundry, bathroom and new bedroom/study.

After

The new bathroom and bedroom, study  were created under the same roofline, without any need to extend the current footprint.  Creating additional bedrooms and bathrooms is the easiest way to create more value in your home.  Removing the existing lattice work and new tiling, painting and lighting has created a welcoming, hamptons inspirted entrance to this home.
